ORIGINAL VERSE.

"THE ICAISEE." Ideals distorted and fiendish, A soul less than a skunk, With the blood of innocent millions Your ''Kultured" nation "drunk." ' The "Day of Judgment'' coming, You little thought it would. You and your "Gott" "Odin," Whose lust is all for blood. You will reap as -you have sown, For Jehovah wills it set And the "Power"of Hohenzollern" Be shattered at a blow. The armies of the Allies Are marching in their might, Pressing forwafd, glorious victories, They are fighting for the "Right." The shrieking and the wailing That was heard on Belgium's plains Will echo, and re-echo, in , Your cities of the slain. Ach! cry to ypur "Gott in Himmel," Your damned old German god. But Jehovah, "The All Powerful," "Marks the sleepers under sod." You have sung your hymns of hatred, Your "Day" is waning fast, As "Blow for blow" you boasted, The "Day of Vengeance" comes at last. By sword and fire and famine ' Your "Fatherland" will fall, And never from'its ruin Will it ever rise at all. For "Peace with Peace" is answered, And for "sword the sword." This was the law of Jehovah And is still the law of God. And as the ages roll on swiftly, The clear-eyed seer will tell How in the "hells of misery" Your repenting soul still dwells. -J. C. SMITH. New Plymouth, 31/3/17.
