FINED FOR ASSAULT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dannevirke, April 7. Edward Redmond White, sergeant-in-structor at I'eatherston, who was on final leave, was fined £lO and coats by Mr. McCarthy, S.M. for assaulting a man" 76 years of age. White was in a fit of rage arising out of a domestic dispute over a ball which had been accidentally kicked on to the section of the man assaulted. The Bench said the assault was quite unjustifiable. TYPHOID OUTBREAK IN OTAGO. Dunedin, April 7. A typhoid outbreak is reported in the Lindis district, one ease, that of a man aged 33, ending fatally.
