THE WOOL SALES. DEMAND FROM AMERICA. Australian-N.Z. Cable Association. Received April 8, 5.5 p.m. London, April 6. The Government is acquiring the new English wool clip, at) above 1914 July rates. Of 50,900 bales catalogued at the current sales, the Government withdrew •23,000, while 55,000 were sold for the Home market. 2000 for the Continent, and 5000 for the United States. The latter's entry into the war Is likely to cause a large demand, in either Australia or London. The best combing merinos advanced for to-daft while others made full rates. Rest scourers further appreciated. Lambs' wool sold often above February rates. The snmllness of America's purchase was apparently dun to the priced being too 'high, and also because direct Australian shipments are permitted.
