HIGH COMMISSIONER'S MARKET REPORT.

The Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce has received the following cablegram, dated London, March 24, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand. (Note: Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot) : Meat.—All descriptions of frozen meat in active demand, owing to short supply. Only a small quantity under Government control has been released each week for Home consumption. New Zealand mutton, per lb, B%d; ewe mutton Ridj Argentine mutton, heavy-weight. IHd, light-weight 113 d; New Zealand lamb, 10d; Argentine lamb 13d; New Zealand and Argentine beef, no supplies available. Pork lid. Butter.—Maximum prices are unchanged for both butter and choose, and will remain in force until April 13. Lower prices being quoted for colonial butters. Buyers are holding- back partly owing to uncertainty of maximum pries. New Zealand butter, unsalted, 204s to 212s per cwt., salted 210s to 21Ss; Australian, salted, 202s to 208s, unsalted 200s to 2045; French, 212s to 2175. Cheese.—The market continues firm. Canadian, white and colored, 162*; English Cheddar, 1655, Dutch Cheddar 150s; States Flats, IGOs. Hemp.—The market is firm at the advance. Supply falls short of the demand. Quotations are nominal. Goodfair New Zealand £74, fair £7O; Government graded, fair Manila, £93, coarse £7B; March to May shipment, good-fair New Zealand £72, fair £O9: Government graded fair Manila, £93, coarse £77. Wheat.—The market is strong, all stocks advancing. Very limited supply. Australian, 84s; Canadian, S2s; Argentine 81s.' Oats.—Market remains firm, New Zea land, 535. London, Marcli 27. Owing to the delayed arrivals colonial butter is in short supply. The little New Zealand choicest which is available is selling at 2lSs to 2205; Australian 20(is to 2075.
