SHEEP DOG TRIALS.

EAST PiOAD CLUB. The ninth annual gathering of the East End Sheep Dog Trials Club was held on Thursday and Friday last on Mr. O'Neill's property at Tc Wera, the sheep being loaned by the Nathan TCs-. tate. The gathering proved most successful, there being good entries in each event. Mr. H. Lambert, as judge, gftve every satisfaction with his prompt decisions. Mr. C. O'Neill, as secretary, had made complete arrangements, which assisted greatly towards the successful issue. A feature was the win by Mr. J. R. Corrigan's entries in the second event. The Ladies' Red Cross Committee, under Mm, Caraeldine, had charge of the luncheon, and the fund must have benefited joasidera'bly. The trophies were presented to the winners by the vice-presi-dent of the club (Mr. 3. Brewer) at a social in the Te Wera Hall on Friday evening. Results were as follow: Class -I. —Long head and pull -to ring. Quarter of a. mile. Time, 10 minutes. (First prize £4, second £1 15s, third 15a, fourth 10s—P. Tocker's Chum Jim" 1, J. R. Corrigan's ''Swift" 2, 'P. Clouts' "Kiss" 3, J. R. Corrigan's "Marvell" 4'. Class ll.—Head, pull, drivo and yard. About. 300 yards. Time, 12 minutes. (Pint prize £4, second £1 15s, third 13s, fourth 10s).—J. R. Corrigan's "Tam" 1, J. R. Corrigan's "Marvel'' 2, J. R. Corrigan's "Swif't"\3, F. Cleland'j "Troy" 4. Class lll.—Huntaway between flags. About quarter of a mile. Time, 10 minutes. (First prize £4, second £1 153, third las, fourth 10s).—R. McMullian's "Nap" 1, A. Hunter's "Rome" 2, P. Groshinski's "Taipo" 3, B. Bovles' "Toby" 4. Class IV (local only).—Huntaway, pul and yard. About a quarter of a mile. Time, 10 minutes. (First prize, Borthwiek and Son's special of 1 guinea and farmers' silver cup, second 15s, third 10s).—P. G'oates' "Don" 1. B. Boyles' "Toby" 2, R. McMullian's "Toby" 'i, R. McMullian's "Nap" 4. Special prizes were awarded as follows:—

I Club's silver cup for dog scoring most points in classes 1 and 2. H. McMullian's Toby, Stratford Auctioneers' silver cup for class 3—R. 'McMullian'a Nap. Mr, Nolan's silver rose bowl for dog scoring most points in classes 1 2 and 3.—P. Coates' Don. , Farmers' silver cup for class 4.—P. Coates' Don. Bellringers' special for runner-up.— B. Boyle's Toby. Wilson and Son's special of pair of spurs for single man scoring most points in classes 1, 2 and 3.—P. Coates. Mr. special for married inftti scoring most points at Iho Tiieetiiig with one dog.—B. Boyles' Totiy. Central Co-op. Store's special of box of tea to runner-up.—P. Groshniski's Taipo. Mr. W. B. Grant's special for youths. —L. Hodgson.
