A HOME RULE DISCUSSION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, March 27. At the City Council meeting last night Mr. McCorabs, M.P., moved a motion in favor of granting Home Kule to Ireland, and asking the Government to forward a message to the Imperial authorities. The Mayor, Mr. Holland, ruled that such a motion was outvof order, but Mr. McCombs moved that) the Council disagree with the Mayor's ruling. This motion was carried by 8 to 7. A number of councillors- left the chambers, but the Home Rule motion was finally carried in the form: "That the council views with pleasure tbe'Sesolution of the Imperial Government to make another effort to settle the Irish problem, and believes the winning of Irish confidence of supreme importance to the cause of Britain and her Allies. , W.C.T.U. ON SALE OF LIQUOR. Auckland March 27. The W.C.T.U. Convention appointed Mrs. Perzman. of Port Chalmers, editor manager of the White Ribbon. A deputation from the New Zealand Alliance was received. A resolution was passed urging the Government totally to prohibit the sale of liquor during the war, and for six months afterwards.
