Ansel!, chemist, were totally 46* stroyed, as also were the bulk stove# of Buxton and Co., Ltd., ironmongers and general merchants. Running 1 behind t6# premises mentioned and Buxton's main building, a large bride structure, se- " parated from Jackson's l>y a narrow right of way, was for a, Jong time in 1 great danger, fire repeatedly breaking into the top floor. The damage in these premits r 'vi was light, wholly caused by beat end smoke. Salving from Jackson's/ •' Lightband's and Burton's bulk stores vtm impossible, but some of Ansell's stock jivas got out. The damage will run into many thousands, but the estimates hava not yet been arrived at. The detail! ol' insurances are not available to-night, but those on Ligiitband's stock and Jaekson and Co.'p building and stock are all , in the Alliance office.
