Mr. ?,faleolm Frafier (Government Statieian) prepared, en tho conclusion of tlie fifth ballot on March "7, a return winch shows that there were still 55,413 First Division reservists left. The number of men absorbed by the fifth ballot was 45:;:!, and at this rate it will-not bo necessary to call up any Second Division reservists until November or December next. The number of men left in the First Division is, indeed, sufficient for twelve more monthly drafts; hut, of course, ''unfits" and exemptions by the Military Service Boards must be allowed for.
