RACING IN WAR TIME.
A CONFERENCE SUGGESTED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Pahnerston N., March 22, A meeting of the Manawatu Racing Club resolved—"That in the club's opinion a 'conference should meet at the earliest opportunity, and,- after ascertaining the opinion of leading owners, should confer with the Minister for Internal Aflairs (if possible in conjunction with representatives of previous deputations opposed to the continuation of racing), and decide whether or not racing should be suspended or curtailed' 1 ; "That in the club's opinion each district committee should, prior to such meeting of a, conference, obtain and forward to such meeting full and complete particulars as to what extent the cessation or curtailment of racing will financially affect men not efficient tor military service or for home duty.'-'
