Mr. Walter C. Weston has been an. pointed the Government .representative on the New Plymouth Firo Board, vice the late Mr. H. Stocker. Mrs. A. Ross, Gill street, Jias received oablo advice that her son, Driver William Alexander Boss, 2nd Reinforcemeats, has been admitted to Walton-on-Thames Hospital, suffering from septic poisoning in the foot. The Rev. F. G. Harvie, vicar-elect of St) Mary's, New Plymouth, arrived on a brief visit on Tuesday evening. He met the vestry on arrival and yesterday > he spent in visiting the church, vicarage, etc. He returned by the mail train tins morning. Rev. Harvie expects to takt up his duties here after Easter. Major Felix B. Brown, reported killed in action on March 7, left with the Main Body as captain of the 2nd South Canterbury Regiment, and was with the first New Zealand troops to land on Gallipoli. He went right through that campaign, having an almost charmed life, and he was promoted to the rank of major in September, 19Z5. He was invalided to Egypt, and finally to New Zealand. After recuperating in Christchurch for some time, he left in charge of the 14th Reinforcements, and sa.« further service in France. Major Brown, who was a very young officer for his rank, was a Christchurch boy, who always took a keen interest in volunteering, and men from GaUipoli apoke of him as having an exceptionally good way with his men, by whom he was greatly, ■ respected. Prior to the war Major Brown was for some time in the employ of the New Zealand Insurance Company. He was the son of Mr 0. E. Brown, lately Christchurch manager of the D.I.C.
