MEN DRAWN IN THE BALLOT.
FIRST DIVISION NOW 55,000 a The numbers of men drawn for military service in the various ballots to date nave been as follow:—; First ballot, Nov., 1916 4000 Second ballot, Dec., 1916 ........ 3000 Thifd ballot, Jan., 1917 3600 Fourth bal(ot (double) Feb.. 1917 6867 Fifth ballot, March, 1917. ...... 4503 *21,970 The fivo ballots have been calculated to till some 7300 vacancies in the 23rd to 2«tli Reinforcements. The First Division, which originally totalled 84,080, has now been considerably drawn upon by voluntary enlistment. At the conclusion of the fourth ballot, on Feoruary 7, the total number remaining in the reseive was 50,952, This number has now been further reduced by the 4503 men called up in the fifth ballot and the voluntary enlistment of the First Division men since February. The total number now remaining in the First Division is below 55,000.
