The First Division, which originally totalled 84,080, has now been considerably drawn upon by voluntary enlistment. At the conclusion of the fourth ballot, on Feoruary 7, the total number remaining in the reseive was 50,952, This number has now been further reduced by the 4503 men called up in the fifth ballot and the voluntary enlistment of the First Division men since February. The total number now remaining in the First Division is below 55,000.
