IRISH NATIONAL CONCERT.
AN OUTSTANDING SUCCESS. For ninny years past the Irish .rational Concert, held oil St. Patrick's Bay, lias been one of the outstanding successes of the year, and the concert held 011 Monday night in Holland Hall proved 110 exception to the rule. The hall was pa'cked, standing room only being obtainable. That the audience enjoyed the programme, submitted was evidenced from the fact that every item of the lengthy programme was rgc.Avcd with unstinted applause, encores being demanded and responded to cn every occasion. The programme war as follows, 'the names of the oncoied songs being in parentheses:—Pianoforte duet, "Valse Brilliant?," Hisses E. and J. Bennett; song, "The Sands of the Desert," Mr. A. B. MacDonahl ("The Mountain of Mourne"); recitation, "'Papa's Letter," Miss E. Mouat (''Smack- in .School"); violin solo, "Reverie," Mr. L. Spiro ("KillarnejV' with variations^; Aong, "Sweet Vale of Avoea," Miss J/Mnnett ("When I Hear a Song Lark"); step dance, "Irish Jig," Mr. Barry (repeated); song, 'The Deep, Cold Sea/'- Mr. F. iVsiier ("Wrecked and Saved '); pianoforte solo, "Irish Diamonds," Miss E. Bennett (encored): song, "Irish Eyes," Miss N. Walsh ("Will My Soul Pass Through Old Ireland?"); orchestral selection, "Erin's Wreaths," Misjee E. and D. Mannix, M. Jones and E. Hooper; song, "Avournpen," 'ili;.; E. Bennett ("I Know a. Olarde.i"); recitation, ''The- lTellgate of Sois-JfnnMisn E. Mouat, who, in response to floubls recalls, gave "Handing Down" and 'Little Or* j phan Annie".; violin solo (by special request), "Polonaise," Mr. L, Spiro (encored); song, "Invictiu," Mr. A. IJ. M,u> donald ("The Little -Irish Oivl'); pianoforte solo, ''Acushla," Miss I. Hecdc«on (encored): song, "Warden of Hoses," Miw D. Dew (''Absent"); step dance, "Sailor's Hornpipe," Mr. Harry (repeated); violin solo, Irish airs. Miss E. Mannix (enored); sons, ''For the firoen," Mr. A. F. (irahaiu ("The Low'-backed Car"). Misses E. Bcnnett> K. Bennett, I. Henderson and As-her played the accompaniments, the piano, being kindly supplied by H. Collier and Co. Prior to the concluding item, Mr. A. F. Graham, who was stage manager and organiser of the. concert, thanked all who had assisted with the programme,.and also the audience for their appreciation.
