PERJURY AT RUA'S TRIAL.
Hamilton, March 19. The trial commenced in the Supreme Court, this morning, hefore Mr Justice Hoskinjj, of several Natives charged with having committed perjury during the trial of Run, the prophet, at Auckland las* year. It was sworn that a man on a black horse fired the first shot at Maungapohaiu on April 2, 1910, that tlie said man was Constable Skinner, (hat he had a rifle, revolver and baton, and that he fired point blank at Rua and his two sons. A Native, named Wi Hapi, is charged with secreting witnesses with intent to pervert the course of justice. Wi Hapi was the Native interpreter engaged by the defence. The first ease called was that of Wi Hapi. Mr Mays is for the Crown and Mr Hampson for accused Owing to tne disorganisation of the Rotorua train service, certain witnesses had not arrived, and the court was adjourned till 2 o'clock. There is great interest in the trial. \ .
