DELAYING DISPATCH OF STEAMER.
CASES BEFORE MAGISTRATE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, March 10. As a sequel to the recent trouble on the waterfront with regard to the use of the Burton block, M men were charged in the MagKtrate's Court today with committing a breach of the war regulations. These cases refer to a refusal to load tho Maori with bunker coal. The Cfown Prosecutor asked for an adjournment, which ivas granted, of 35 cases connected with, the Iv.ttawa. In opening the ease the Prosecutor said that tlie regulations were made to compel men to work when they refused to do their share. It was regrettable that certain men were disloval to the Crown and by mischief-making were bringing New Zealand into disrepute, 'ihe Government was determined that work should go on. Unfortunately, in the mines and on the wharves, the' '-n-o -low" policy had been adopted, ho believed, oy a large majority. Honest men on tiie wharves wen, prepared to do a lair day's work for a fair day's pav, but a small minority adopted 'the I'.YVWV. methods. The eases were brouaht as a Jmal warning. Under the war regulations there was power to warn meu off the wharves, and he save a warning now that if they came back a S :t:;; they would be liable to a term of 12 months'in gaol. ■pi We '' l ' 11 -? ton < Last Night.
