MEETING OF FARMERS. SOME DRASTIC RESOLUTIONS. a largely attended meeting of fanners at. Clandeboye, Canterbury, io discuss the requirements of the Efficiency Hoard, the following, res-olutions were passed:— To prevent high prices, scarcity and perhaps famine, tlm attention of the Government be, called to Mr. Anstoy's figures showing that larger quotas are being taken from agricultural districts than from city areas; and, further, that "'orkiTs belonging to the primary food lustries shall not be sent away until trainers, bookmakers, 'picture ace and theatrical staffs, lawyers, id, commission and other agents,' and 1 non-producers "be forwarded to the rout.

Recognising the Government's failure to deal in a businesslike way with military hospital troubles, wheat importations, etc., meat and wool purchases, especially dairy produce purchases, 'this meeting is gratified at the appointment of an Efficiency Board, and congratulates the Government pn recognising that business men, not politicians, are needed when a crisis arrives. It would urge the (lovernment to go a step further, call Parliament together, recall the Hon. W. E Massey and Sir Joseph Ward, and put the inanagement of the country's affairs, during war time, in business hands.
