Everybody, but particularly parents with boys and girls approaching 111:1turity, and those who cannot go to the front, will lie gratified to learn of the manner in which Xew Zealand girls have been rising to tile occasion nrnl" assisting the country by becoming rilleient for commercial work. This is splendidly illustrated by the recent, results of the accountancy degree examinations, and those of tlit diploma in practical mercantile book-keeping granted by the Society of Accountants under'examination conducted by the rniversitv of JfPW Zealand. The candidate to top the list and so obtain the coveted first honors place in all the Dominion at the last examination was 04b8.v, Hiss Agnes Thompson. ]n a recenScxamiuation also for the linal degree of the same body, a young lady, -Miss 1. L. Purvis, was second in all New Zealand, whilst another lady, Miss M. Cunningham, was second in order of merit in the book-keepers' diploma examination. These candidates were prepared by correspondence ty Messrs Hemingway and Robertson, of Auckland, the weil-known teachers of accountancy, practical book-keeping and business subjects by mail. Other successes achieved by Messrs Hemingway and Robertson's candidates yxst year included the first place in all Australia (A. D. Locke), May Intermediate Victorian Institute of Accountants. First in order of merit in all Australia, Federal Institute of Accountants, May examinations (W. E. Heath); first- in order of merit in all Australia, Federal Institute of Accountants, November examinations (J. Kt?id). 11l addition, 4'2 other honors places were obtained by candidates prepared liy Messrs Hemingway and Robertson in 11110. Of 2SC2 candidates prepared by Messrs Hemingway and Robertson for the various accountancy and book-keep-ing examinations 2!>">l have been successful, a conclusive criterion of the valne pf the linn's hnnie-study method.
