Woyds' lists received ncwsJrom Cork that the Beligian relief steamer Stobstad, from Buenos Aires, was submarined in daylight. Thirteen were landed, ineluding an American. Two boats containing thirty men are 1 missing. The survivors were for thirty-six hours in a stormy sea, and the fourth engineer died from exposure. In the Chamber, the Minister of Marine detailed Italy's .anti-submarine measuies, including tho of nmnoi** ous places on tiie coast, tho organisa-" tion of the coastguards, creating harriers and other defensive works. The depth of the seas precludes the employment of nc-ts. As regards the method of chasing submarines, 200 small craft, have been employed in the Otranto channel for months. Numerous aeroplanes and squadrons of small airships have been employed, and already over 1000 guns have been employed in arming merchantmen. Sixty per cent, of the Italian ships are armed, and several hundred have wireless apparatus installed. The ships' system of signalling, and the use of wireless and aeroplanes, have been successful. The large numbers of sailings and arrivals showed that tho measures taken have not been in vain.
