Interviewed to-day regarding Mr. Bedford's allegations of the sale of goods on transports, Sir James Allen said Mr. Bedford had submitted to him a document signed by certain responsible officers on the transport. This stated that tilings had been sold to soldiers. This was a recurring trouble. We had heard about them before, said the Minister, and for one ease he could recollect he dared say there were three cases. The grandstand at Richmond agricultural showgrounds, used at the races, was destroyed by fire this morning. The origin of the fire is a mystery. The stand was insured for £soo' in the National Insurance Company.
