Melbourne, March 9. The Treasurer estimates the profit on the Government's sugar transactions for the two years ending on June 30, tit half a million. In the House of Representatives, Mr ■Hughes stated that the Government was not prepared to raise the price of sugar, but would give the industry all the profits, charging only the office expenses of the Government managers, which would mean that growers would receive £22 7s per ton for raw sugar for the period of the war and the season thereafter. This would not apply to New South Wales growers, who were working under an agreement with the Colonial Sugar Company, unless they were prepared to sell their raw s*iigar to the Commonwealth at the same price as Queensland. WHEAT PURCHASE BOARD. Melbourne, March fl. A conference lias been held at which the Wheat Purchase Board decided to grant the farmers' demands for representation. The Board has requested the State Governments to guarante a minimum realisation of 4s per bushel foi wheat in addition to the immediate payment ot 3s already agreed upon. TALLOW PRICES.
