GRAFT OX TROOPSHIPS. A SERIOUS INDICTMENT. By Telegraph.—I J re3S Af&oeifttion. Dunedin, Last Night. In an interview, Dr Bedford, who as a representative of the Y.M.C.A., said: 'T saw graft that must have robbed the State of hundreds of pounds. Stores on the ship -were sold to soldiers and 'the money taken by some employees of the ship, who had acoess to the provisions. Fresh water baths and hot salt water baths, four buckets, fruit, cakes and supper were sold, and, in one case, £4O was handed over by a man representing a group. I have a written fitate-. ment by 24 sergeants, who not only state that they were robbed, but that the men were charged more than the stuff was worth. I have suggested a trial of enlarging the canteens, and selling afternoon tea, fresh cakes and supper, and the Minister is considering the whole thing." A WOMAN'S SUICIDE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Whangarei, 'Last Night. Mrs Manuel Abrahams, of Ivamo, was found hanging ilead to a Dedrail with a short piece of cord round her neck. The deed was attributed to despondency, following the demise, two months ago, of her newly-born child. A verdict of suicide while temporarily insane was returned. CHILD CRUSHED TO DEATH. Whangarei, Last Night. Madge Johnson, aged three years, was crushed to death last evening on her father's farm at Maungatapere by an agricultural roller drawn by a horse, iwhich was temporarily, unattended.
