THE WEEKLY LIST. 23 VESSELS SUNK. NINE ESCAPE. A. & N.Z. Cable Association and Router, Received March 8, 8.20 p.m. London, March S. The Press Bureau reports that durinfr the week 2520 vessels urrived and 2477 sailed. Fourteen vessels of 1000 tons and over, and nine vessels of under 1000 tons were sunk. Nine vessels were attacked, but escaped. Three fishing vessels were sunk.
COPING WITH SUBMARINES. ITALY FORMS SPECIAL DEPARTMENT. REWARDS FOR ANTI-STJBM ARISE SUCCESSES. Renter Service. Received March 8, 10.30 p.m. Rome, March 8. A new anti-submarine department, under an admiral, has been created. Its functions include the arming of merchantmen and rewarding those who succeed in sinking or disabling submarines. SECRECY IMPOSED. Copenhagen, March 7. In order to prevent leakages to Germany regarding the departure of food ships to England, the Government has prohibited the publication of shipping ements.
