PRICE OF TALLOW FIXED. Received March 7, 0.50 p.m. Melbourne, March 7. Tallow has been declared a necessary commodity, the price being fixed at £3O per ton. RUMORED LOSS OF TROOPSHIP! DENIED. Melbourne, march 7. Hon. Joseph Cook, Minister of the Navy, officially contradicts the report circulated yesterday evening regarding the sinking of two Australian troopships. Replying to certain questions in the House, he said that neither troopships nor lives had been lost. More could not now be said, but the dangers to Australia, in connection with the war are not less than they were. HOME ROLE FOR IRELAND. Melbourne, March 7. The Senate is debating a motion for an address to the 1 King in favor of granting home rule for Ireland. QUEENSLAND'S AGENT-GENERAL. Received March 7, 10.30 p.m. Brisbane, March 7. It is understood that Mr J. M. Hunter, Minister of Lands, succeeds Major T. B. Robinson as Agent-General.
