SCHOOL BOOKS IN USE.
NO CAUSE FOR COMPLAINT. Complaints were made at a recent •neeting of the School Committees As--ociation that numerous changes had been made lately in the school books in use. At a meeting of the Association on Monday evening, Mr 8. G. Sm'th reported that he had made enquiries, and had found that there had been no changes in the books used for four or five years, but that thia year the "Alexandra Reader" had been substituted for the "Pacific Reader.'' and new copy books had ■been introduced. It therefore appeared that there was no serious cause for complaint, particularly as the committee appointed to report on the books used had included in its recommendations one to the effect that it was not advisable to make frequent changes in the author ised books, especially in the readers. Free books~could be provided in the ease of destitute children, or of parents who had mtved from .other districts, and could not afford to purchase new books.
