RIVER GUNBOATS AT WORK. FOUR TURKISH STEAMERS TAKEN. A. & N.Z. Cable Association and Router. Received March 4, 11,15 p.m. London, March 3. The Admrialty announces that the Mesopotamia river gunboats Tarantula, Mantis, and Motes came into contact with and passed the retreating Turkish army westward of Shmnraii on February 28. They inflicted heavy losses, and captured or destroyed four Turkish steamers and a number of barges containing ammunition. THE PURSUIT CONTINUED. London, March Official —The pursuit was continued on Wednesday. The Turks, in great confusion, on Tuesday passed through Aziziyas. We systematically cleared the battlefield, bringing in booty hourly. Our captures since February 23 number 4300, making a total of 7000 since December, also 28 guns, 19 trench mortars, three Turkish ships, two tugs, ten barges and 30 pontoons.
