Mr. John Hislop has 'been appointed, a member of the Taranaki Land Board m from April 22 next. Mr If. Neville Rennud is at present I confined to his house through lit health. The Rev. A. B. Clmppell will be siwn ceeded at the Wliiteley Memorial Church by the Kg v. L. U. Hudson. Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Hutton leave on Wednesday morning for Wellington, en rcuto to Christchurch, ■where they intend to take up their residence. The I?ev. H. A. Favell, vicar of the Holy Trinity, Te Henui, who was called up in th« last ballot, was examined, by the Medical Board on Saturday. The final decision of the Board will be notified later. ■> Among the New Zealand offters mentioned in Sir Douglas Haig's despatches at tlie beginning of the year were Captain F. K. Turnbull, M.C., Captain Murray Uri|ubart, Second-Lieutenant N. 11. Ardeu, Major A. K. D. Carbery,of the ' Medical Corps Staff, Major F. Lampen, and Major Temperley. On Saturday, Mr. Geo, Coghill, mail ager of the Union Bank, who leaves for Trenthani this morning, was presentd by friends and clients with a gold wristlet watch. At the Taranaki Club in the evening, Mr Coghill and Sergeant Frank Moore, who is on final leave, were farewelled by the club members and wished "God speed." At a social gathering held 'in the Flra Brigade Hall, on Friday evening, Privates G. Malam and Roberts, two previous members of the Fire Brigade, who are on final leave from caqip, were farewelled. Private Malam .was made thl recipient of a wristlet watch, and Private ft&berts was given a travelling rug. To.both soldiers were extended the best wishes of the Brigade. 'Private Malam was presented by the Taranaki Herald mechanical staff with a case -of pipe* Two members of the Citizens' Band, Messrs N. Ijovell and N. Kinsella, who leave to-day with the 27th Reinforcements, were farewelled at the municipal concert given by the Band on Maraland Hill yesterday afternoon. Mr R. Cock, president of the Citizens' Commit* te, in asking the departing bandsmen to each accept a wristlet watch, said the band hod sent 20 of its members to the front, fie wished Messrs Lovell and Kinsella every success, and trusted they would soon return.
