STRATFORD.

As the outcome of a collision near Tariki on Thursday evening between a motor-car driven, by' Mr. H. W. Douglas, of Mr. Newton King's Stratford staff, and a mtor-cyclo ridden by two soldiers, the tno latter were thrown so the ground and sustained injuries necessitating their removal to the hospital, where they were taken by Mr. Alex. Burke, who was on his way home from the New 'Plymouth show. One of the men, Jacob 'Mocllur,' formerly manager of tlie Riverlea branch of the Kaponga Dairy Co., is suffering from an injured toe and a lacerated arm, and will not be lonjr a patient at the hospital. Tlie other "rider, Leonard Walker, previously a factory hand in the same factory, sustained a compound fracture of the kneecap, which will lay him up for some time. The occupants ot the car escaped injury. Tlie axle of the car was bent and its mudguards and lamps broken, whilst the motor-cycle was considerably ■iamaged. Cardiff residents to-niglit farewelled Private Frebbles, and welcomed heme Lieut. Marchant and Private i\l yo, whilst settlers of Stanley road far.welled Private \V. Lineham at the ofikifll opening of the modern new structure which replaces the old schoolroom destroyed by lire a year ago, since which time the school has been working under difficulties, uTvided into two sections, soma distance apart. Mr James has just returned from a business visit to other centres, and is now offering these good quality hand bags in many instances at half the usual prices charged.
