TRANSFERS AND SUB-LEASES. The following were approved or recommended for approval:—Section 0, block 11, Totoro, 143 a. 3r., C. B. Lever to John Sutherland: section 2, block VII, Waro, 512 a., Geo. Jarvis to G. A, Jarvis; section 9, block XI, Aria, 533 a., Geo. Blank to Mrs. E. B. Hallen; section 1, block V,' Carlyle, 350 a., J. and J. Walker to David Walker; section 198, New 'Plymouth, 1 rood, E. S. Mailman to Claude Leighton; section A, block 111, Ohura, 70!) acres, C. B. Wheeler and W. H, Fifo to G. L. Salter. Tolme, Crown Lands Ranger, reported on 118 Crown land holdings; area, 21,452 a. 2r. 20p.; improvements required £21,803; improvements effected, £79,228; two defaulters for residence, one defaulter improvements; 33 National Endowment holdings of an area of 083fia. lr. 18p.; improvements required, £421)3; improvements effected, £18,878; one defaulter for residence.—Received. Mr. y,. A. Meredith, Crown Lands Ranger, reported on section '9, block 11, Taurakawa, 1570 acres. —It was resolved ' to open same under section 3 of the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, with exemption from rental payment for four j years. . The Under-Secretary for Lands forj ivarded an opinion as to the eligibility , of a discharged soldier, who has complied with all requirements of the Discharged Soldiers *Settlement Act, 1915, ii?ul having re-enlisted for home service, applies for land under the Act, stating that it is considered such a discharged soldier is entitled to apply for land, and pointing out that the difficulty in regard to residence could be met under the special regulations relating to sol- : dier settlement.—Received. ' Messrs E. Griffiths and F. E. Orbell, arbitrators, forwarded their award in the matter of renewal of lease of E.R. section 90, Mock VIII, Cape S.D., 10a. lr. 18p. ' (David P. Greenway).—Received. W. Higgins, jr., lessee with J. 11. Higgins and A. R Steven! of o.r.p. section 2, block XV, Mahoe, 1030 acres, was granted 12 months extension of time in which to complete the required improvei ments, owing to one of the partners having enlisted, and another having withdrawn from the partnership. Messrs Rutherfurd, Macalistcr and Coleman, solicitors, forwarded an application for consent to transfer o.r.p. section 11, block XIV, Pouatu, 280 acres, J. G. Buchanan to Arthur Jas. Kitto.— Adjourned. 1 Daniel J. Davis, selector of section 14, block VII. Pouatu, 440 acres, under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, applied for an advance for bushfalling Recommended for approval. T. C. Fookes, solicitor, forwarded an application for consent to transfer e.r. section 39, block 11, Ngaire, U acres, Frank Newland to A. F. Cuff.—Approved, A. Paterson, solicitor, applied for the Board's consent to transfer l.p, section 18, block 1(1, Egmont, 121 acres, John Moore to T. P. Lister.—Approved. The Board in committee dealt with seven applications for rental remissions from selectors who are absent on active service, and recommendations were made according to the circumstances of the individual cases. The Board in committee resolved to ," determine and re-enter in the case of three holdings, the lessees of wliich are in arrear with rental payments.. Action for the recovery of the overdue rent was also authorised. The Board in committee consented to three applications for mortgage at cur-' rent rates of interest. One application for postponement of collection of rent at <i per cent, per annum was recommended for the Minister's approval. . ■•'
