Stratford exhibitors figure freely on the prize list. Mr \Y\ Hathaway, chairman of the Stratford County Council, accompanied by Mr.W. J. Lopdell, county engineer, visited New Plymouth yesterday and interviewed Mr Okey in connection witli the delay in the payment of the Government grant in connection with the Stanley Road bridge. There wa\ a crowded attendance at i the Midhirst Hall on Friday evening at the concert and dance tendered to Messrs W. Linehrou and G. A. Passed in four subjects—Ceiia Ford. Passed in two subjects—W. A. Dean, Eileen Leech, Brod. M. Wilson. The Gazette notifies that this examination will not be held in -future, except tlnft. in January, 1018, arrangements will be made to examine all candidates who now hold partial passes. Dr D. Steven, medical sliperutendenl of the Stratford Hospital, has received notification that- he -has obtained the M.T). degree for which lie sat at the November university examinations. Dr Steen presented a thesis embodying origi:vi| research, and took as special sub-/-.ts Advanced Medicine and Midwifery. T. A. LAMASON'S REPORT. Last Saturday our usual weekly sale was held when a very good entry of poultry and produce came to hand. We quote as follows:—Hen, 1/0 to 2/0; rooster, 1/- to 2/0; ducks 2/- to 2/fl; geese, 2/9 to 3/-; gobbler small, 6/eaeh; big, 8/0 to 12/0; manure 4/0; cabbages 2/- to 2/6; potatoes, 9/- to 12/6 bag; pollard, 14/0 sack; bran 10/bag; wheat 7/6 to 7/9 bushel; tomatoes 2/- to 6/-; furniture and sundries at usual auction rates. Now is the time to invest in ladies' leather hand bags. There are many excellent samples procurable at C. E. James' warehouse. Mr James has just returned from a business visit to other centres, and is now offering these good quality hand bags in many instances at half the usual prices charged^
