WAR INCOME-TAX.
j To "the Eilitof. Sir,—Your leader of this morning re War Income Tax is well timed. My business, being concerned in the Ritpplv of articles not strictly essential, has suffered severely through the; >var, and my income sadly diminished, yet this morning I get a demand for £45 War Tax, to he paid by Thursday next, and this in spite of the fact that up to the present I have, never received an income necessitating niv paying any income-tax at all. That we as a community must pay both in treasure and .blood is certain, and that some are making money out of Hie •war 13 also certain, but sure, ly the taxation should be levied with a little more discrimination. 1 hope to see a. public meeting called to protest, not against tho tax, hut at the manner in which it is being levied.. —I am, etc., A SMALL MAN.
