DAIRYMEN'S DISABILITIES.
To tlio Editor. Sir,—Briefly replying to vonr correspondent, "X.Y.Z.," it is not a fact that t>vo out of three farmers' sons have gone to the war, and two out of three '•'wharfics and townies" have stayed flt home. It is claimed by the labor organisations that 70 per cent, of the personnel of the Expeditionary Forces were workers—i.e., tradesmen, artisans and laborers of all kinds up to the time of the first ballot. Your correspondent forgets that there is such an institution as the Records Office. But apart from the claims of labor organisations, will your correspondent explain why the great bulk of the men drawn in the ballots are farmers, or engaged in farming! Further, it is not" true that all our members of Parliament were having a good time motoring through the north! the great majority of our legislators tcok no part in tlmt clever and expensive advertisement, which should eventually bring to some of its promoters ft handsome return. It is grossly unfair to single out the dairy farmer for special taxation while our grazing barons and wool kings escape any such impost, 'ml, if "X.y.M" thinks the worker is escaping, let him try a few months, even in New Plymouth, on a laborer's wages. Let him pay house rent and all the" inprised cost of living and what not, and '' i'l soon be enlightened.—l am, etc, A.B.C. "
