HAW ERA SITTINGS. The first. Wellington Military Service Hoard concluded its sittings at Hawera on Friday evening. QUESTION OF AGE. Cornelius Francis Shealmn, farmer, Putea, and John Slieahan, fanner, \Vhe--nuakura, appealed on the ground of undue hardship. Mr O'Deu appeared for the appellants. John Slieahan stated that he was 40 years of age and single. * Mr O'Dea: If that is correc't you are not a reservist of t! y First Division. Appellant said he had got the Pa tea postmaster to wire to the Registrar-Gen-eral for particulars of his birth. A reply had been received that 110 trace could, be found of the certificate. The appeal was allowed to stand over until the next sitting to enable appellant to personally make application for his certificate or to bring some other l.roof of his age. APPEAL DISMISSED. Cornelius Sheahan, in his evidence, said lie was interested in a farm, partly freehold and partly leasehold, of 232 acres at Patca. lie worked the farm in conjunction with his brother, who was not in the best of health, being unable to no any of the rough work, while his father, through indill'erent health, was unable to give much assistance. The itypeal was dismissed the appellant being granted laeve till April 2!). The appeal of Thomas Michael Shealian, farmer, Whenuakura, was adjourned until after the first sitting in June, appellant having been boarded 82. SUPPORT OF MOTHER. Thomas Francis Sullivan, farmer, Rangitatau, Waitotara, appealed 011 the ground of undue hardship and public interest. Mr Powell appeared for the appellant, who said lie was managing his aged mother's farm of 205 acres, 011 which lie was at present milking a few cows, He excected to be milking any-
thing up to forty cows next season. Appellant was the sole support of his mother. His father, who was 70 years old and a-carpenter by trade, was not always able to do much work. The appeal was adjourned until the next silting of the Board, to enable appellant to be medically examined. DISMISSED OR ADJOURNED. Michael Aloysius Timothy, cheesemaker, Wavcrlcy, appealed on the ground of public interest. Appellant had been boarded C2, and the appeal was withdrawn and formally dismissed. George Pickup, farmer, Patea, appealed on the ground of undue hardship in respect of his son, John William Pickup. He said that his son attended to the milking of 120 cows, and also did general farm work. Willi the exception of a lad, his son was the .only male assistant. The appeal was dismissed, appellant | being granted leave till April 1. The. appeal of William George Robinson, farmer, Eltham, was withdrawn. The appeal of John Joseph Daley, sharemilker, Hawera, who had been boarded C'2, was withdrawn and formally dismissed. The appeals of Robert Arthur Dyson, cheesemaker, Okaiawa, and Ernest Howat, farmer. Douglas, were adjourned until tho next sitting of the Board. The appeal of Carmichael and Vosseller, previously before the Board, were adjourned to the next sitting. Applications for Government assistance are also being made by the appellants. This concluded the Ilawera sessions, and the Board rose at 0.30 o'clock.
