| TIME OF CLOSING THE MACHINE. By Telegraph.— Press A^ooiution. Dannevirke, February 22. Judgment was reserved in a.ca«e •heard by Mr. S. E. McCarthy, S.M., in which W A. Lyon and Henry Redwood, two officials of the Woodville Racing Olub, were charged with permitting investments on a totalisator at the last meeting after the time notified'by the, club for starting races. The police evidence showed that in six out of eMifc events on the first day money had been accepted after the notified time of starting, but no allegation of corruption was made. The defence contended that sulTiwent notice of starting time had boon given, and the stewards reserved the light to. alter the starting time, as .notified in the race books.
