INDUSTRIAL CORPORAL
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. A conference of the Industrial Corpoiation of New Zealand iw?,s opened to-day, Mr. S. J. tlarbutt, Auckland (president), in the chair. In his inaugural address the president advoe-.ted the holding of a New Zealand my throughout the Dominion, and ro-nr.niinc one of the Government holidvas. ° Tho conference resolved: "That the Government be asked at the earliest posible date to impose a duty on the export of all New Zealand grown timber, with a view to conserving it for dairying and other industries of the Dominion, duo consideration 'being given to existing contracts; also, that the executive be requested to place before the Industrial Efficiency Board the importance of scientific research in industries." A lecture on hydro-electric power was delivered by S. Irwin Crooke, and a resolution passed urging on the Government the desirability of establishing hydro.electrical power plants in various centres of the Dominion for the purposes of lighting and "working industries.
