ELECTRIC POWER SCHEME. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Feb. 21. A deputation of district local bodies waited on the Minister of Public Works to ascertain the Government's intention regarding a hydro-electric power scheme for the North Island. Mr Fraser said that Mr Parry, chief electrical engineer, had submitted an interim report, and so far as had been decided at present there would be three sources of supply in the North Islands The source for Wellington would be the Mangahao River. The cost of supplying Wellington,. Palmerston, Wangamii and district would bo £1,000,000. Parliament would have to authorise any scheme, bu" until the war was over they could not get the machinery even if they had the money to spend.
