Spelter.—Spot £56 15s, three months £52 15s. Silver.—3B% d per oz. Wool.—At Bradford crossbred was steady, there being little private business, whilst the Government is filling its requirements. There is a firmer tone for merinos. Hides.—The market is firm, prices being nominal and unchanged. Leather.—There is a keen'demand for Hid best heavy. Australian 2kl to 29d. Basils are scarce, none being auctioned, but first Sydneys are quoted at 32d to 36d. Slitter.—Australian is selling at 211s to 2145, and for exceptional 21 Cs. The New Zealand shipment has not been discharged yet.
_ The Naples correspondent of the New York Herald reported some time back that nearly 3000 persons had signed a petition to the Italian Government in favor of an Italian woman, Signora Maddalena Gianettc, of Nocera, near Naples, who in 19 years of married lifo 'has given birth to 59 boys and three girls. In nine yearn she was delivered of eleven sets of triplets. Three times she had four at a birth, and on one occasion she gave birth to five hoys and a girl.
