THE EMPIRE.

A STRIKING PICTURE PLAY. "THE WOLF WOMAN.'' The peculiar fascination about the arc of Louisa Glaum is her wonderful capacity for assuming the role of the Vampire Woman, as was strikingly demonstrated in "Hate' 1 and '.Honor Thy Name." Richly endowed by nature for the part, she add to her sinuous graces the charm which •■ ■ with the droop of silken lashes, the ■ (iclojipr glance, and the occasional glimpses ,of smouldering fires. In the Triangle Company's latest Vampire play, "The Wolf Woman," this graceful siren of T. H. Ince's daring conception, presented to patrons of the Empire Theatre last night a starling study of the human mankiller. In thi.i remarkable production the outstanding features are the fascinating work of the siren-actress, and the magnificent splendour of the dressing. The professional and private wardrobe of Louisa Glaim. is said to run into several figures. Her metier in the play is to entrap and ruin men, and the "incense-laden den of the spider-woman" forms an appropriately seductive setting for the central figure. The story tells how this wolf-woman, planning to ruin a handsome boy who is engaged to bo married to a charming girl, is openly challenged by the girl to a fight for possession. In a dramatic climax, the Wolf Woman /falls through a mirror, and is so horribly disfigured that she pays for her wickedness by the greatest punishment that can befal a woman of this type—she loses her physical attractiveness, and power to charm, and the aftermath is grey and pitiless. An amusing Vitagraph comedy "Jane's Bashful Hero," a Pathe color film "Village Life in Central India," and the Gaumont Graphic, complete the programme.
