DROWNING FATALITY.
'AT GPUNAKE BEACH. Mr. George. Marx, son of Mr. Jaoofl Marx, of Mangatoki, who had joined Ed picnic party on an excursion to Opunsko beach, mas drowned while bathing there on Saturday. Mr. A. N. Rogers, who was also one of the party, saw Mr, Marx about two minutes before he di* appeared. When it was realised that tho (swimmer bad been out of sight for an unusual time a vigorous search was instantly instituted. Some considerable period elapsed before tho efforts jnadp wero attended with any success, but eventually the body was recovered. Every effort was niadc to resuscitate) life, and a doctor was quickly on tho, scene, but there was practically noj hope of success, the body having been; in the water too long. Deceased, whoj was about 311 years of age, was n married man, and much- sympathy will be extended to the bereaved wife and; diild, and also to his sorrowing parents, brothers and sisters.
