(From Our Own Correspondent.) Tlic Seaside Society l>ncl a successful fete on Wednesday, considering Vie day was not too good for elderly people to go to the beach, on account of the cold winds and westerly nliowits. The adult attendance was not quite up to past years, although the attendance of juveniles an<l women was on the increase. The fete was later than usual, ail occurrence that will not again happen. The need of a brass band was sorely felt; visitors expect this, and the country folk do enjoy listening to the bami. There were no adult competitions, but numerous children's events, for which tlu- prize-money was presented by the public, Mr. Marshall taking round the list. The sheep-guessiug competition was won by Mr. W. Sutton. There were numerous side shows, such as darts figurative board, bean guessing, donkcv rides, etc. The refreshment, bontli was under the management of Mesdames Clarke, Markham, Whittington, Looney, Thompson, Des Forges, Heath, Cornish, and other helpers; cashiers, Misses Stitt; cordial and sweet stall, Mrs. Hammond, Mrs. C'orkill, Mr. Whittington: ice cream stalls, Misses Clarke and stronge; side shows, Messrs Blyth, Brennan, ITaihniond;, Shepherd, Markham, Clarke, Thorpe, Burton and others. The childrens events were looked after by Rev. Gosnell, Messrs 'Malcolm, Eustace, Greenhill, and Ross; Mr. Marshall attended to stepping the chain, and Mr. and Miss Dudley to sheop-guossing. Mr. Blyth, the secretary, was undoubtedly the principal in the whole of the organisation.

In the evening the Egmont Pictures supplied a good programme to a large audience, lluring an interval the Society presented Mr. John 1 Trotter with a gold medal for services rendered on the sea front, in assisting to rescue bathers in dinieulties. The chairman of Society, Mr. Burton, made the presentation.

At tlic fete a baby show wis got up on the ground, there being 13 entries. I'or five months and over Mrs. Clifford's toil by was awarded first; under five months Mesdanies 0. Holmes' and Austin's babies tied for first place.
