It was statedj to-day by one of the Auckland coal-mining companies that the "go slow" policy, as sworn to before the Military Service Board at Hamilton, had been evident to the management for quite a fortnight past. The retsHction o: the output amounts to a falling-off of M 0 to 150 ions a day in each of three mines in the district, and actually about 350 tons a day foi the district. Local representatives of the companies resent the suggestion that there was need for such a policy in order to torce the owners to agree to a conference, as they had made it clear they were willing to concede it, provided the. About forty of the freezing chamber hands employed by the Auckland Farmers' Freezing at Southdown and ilorotiu, and the Wcstfield Freezing Company, Westfieid, are on strike. The men recently submitted demands as the basis for a new agreement, representing an increase of wages. Theso the employers considered unreasonable, as they already are paying more than is paid for the work in other parts of the Dominion.
