■» "THE SENTIMENTAL BLOKE. The two chief characteristics f "The Sentimental Bloke" are humor ;id pathos in addition to which there is an undercurrent of cheerful and worldly philosophy, and the two principal characters "Bill'' and "Doreen" in the story of their courtship are finely drawn and genuinely human. With these essentia! attributes to work on, Mr. Lawrence Campbell is credited by the author of giving an ideal interpretation of his work, and that this was endorsed by the public is proven by the successful recitals given iiiiilei the direction of J. and N. Tail, by Mr. Campbell throughout Australia, and has resulted in the arranging of a tour of the Dominion. Of the first recital given in Melbourne the Age says: "The'author (Mr. ('. J. Dennis) could scarcely have had a better interpreter of his unique love story ; Lawrence Campbell was simple and natural, and took everyone into his confidence in such an unassuming way. tlml he might well have been thought (o be "The 'Bloke" himself. The New Zealand tour will include all the principal cities and townand at each recital the complete boo!: of verse as published will be prci'ii'i .' by Mr. Campbell, and in addition t", ]>■■ ;•- ing "Bill" and his affinity "IVrrc.i." i • rons will be introduced to "Mar," "I'mii Coot," "Unclei Jim," "The -;,■„,.; -.ty Coot," and "The Kiel," el ■.
