In the Senate, -Senator Henderson gave notice of motion that a petition be presented to the King expressing the hops that a measure of Home Rule would be granted to Ireland. Senator Ferricks criticised the Imperial Governments war policy and deprecated secret diplomacy and negotiation. The diplomatic service was run as an asylum for the sons of the rich.
