CORRESPONDENCE.

HAWERA EDUCATIONAL METIIOI. To the Editor.

Sir,—Will you kindly, through tlio medium of your valuable paper. lot the public know the following? A few week's back, "Mr. A. Oray, Director of Technical Education, canvassed llawcra for guarantors for the Technical School, and obtained them. Then the advertisement of the course of studies, etc., appeared in the paper. Decently .Mr. (,'i\iy interviewed parents', of intending pupils, with "ood results. Since this, another servant of the Taranaki Kducation Board has been doine all in his power ,U> prevent the promised pupils from atter.dinu', by interviewing and telling the parents that -'they cannot pet, the tuition at the Technical School that the director said would be given," but that ■thev can obtain it at the District High School, This action on the part of the Board's servant, who is also a member of the Technical School Committee, should not be permitted bv the Hoard. Our Government is at this sad time asking for the strictest economy, vet here are two schools in Hawera under the same Board, each advertising llie selfsame course of studies—a most, wasteful and unnecessary expenditure, which ought to be stopped at once by the District High School being disc-tabli-dicd. There is absolutely no need for high schools anywhere where there are technical schools—l am, etc., A BRITISH NEW ZEALAND PARENT.
