THE AUROA ROAD.
THE QUESTION OF CONTROL. At* a special meeting of the Egmont County Council on Saturday the following resolution, proposed by the county chairman, was passed:—''That the Egmont County Council is prepared to hand over the control of the Auroa (boundary) road to the Eltham County Council, and to contribute one-half of the cost of the repair and the putting of the road in order, and also to contribute ope-half of the cost of its future maintenance, provided the Eltham County Council is prepared to contribute the oilier half of such cost of repair and putting the road in order, and also the half of such cost of its future maintenance as aforesaid, subject to the loan being raised as proposed." In connection with the above, the hearing of the case by Mr. Haseldcn, S.M. (the Commissioner) was set down for hearing on Monday morning at the Magistrate's Court, Haw era. The Eltham County Council was represented by Cr. Belcher, (county chairman), Messrs. Tristram (county clerk), Basham (county engineer) and Weir (of Syme and Weir), county solicitors. The Egmont county was represented by Crs Fleming (county chairman), Dudley and McNeill and Mr. Rogers (county clerk). Mr. Weir announced that a conference had been held, and it was now hoped a working arrangement would be arrived at. He therefore applied for an adjournment, the case to be called on at Eltham on March 7, and the request was complied with.
