A REITERATED THREAT. ARMED MERCHANTMEN TO BE SUBMARINED.. Received .Jan. 30, 5.5 p.irt. Washington, January 20. The German Embassy, in an inspired statement, says that submarines will attack without warning all British merchantmen which are armed fore and aft. BLOCKADE OF NORTH SEA. / GERMANY PERTURBED. United Press. London, Jan. 20. London, Jan. 20. Berlin is perturbed at Sir John Jcllicce's new minefields in the North Sea. The Tageblatt states that the British have established a blockade of the Heligoland Bight, involving portions o) the- Dutch ainl Danish coasts. The measures include minefields and patrols directed against the entrance and departure of submarines. THE RAIDER DESCRIBED. BY YARROWDALE'S CREW. A VERITABLE TIRATE. Received Jan. 30, 10.40 p.m. Copenhagen, January 30. Twenty-six Swedish, Norwegian ami American seamen belonging to the crew of the Yarrnwdale have arrived, after a month of internment at Neustridtz. They describe the new raider as a vessel of 12,000 tons, so excellently disguised that it is impossible to discover anything extraordinary about lieV until her ports are opened disclosing the guns. She often carries sails, hiding tflc deck, and is armed with four largo and two smaller guns and four torpedo tubes. She has sufficient munitions and provisions to enable 'her to remain at sea until April. Tile ship, which is quite new, .bears the name "Mocwe,"' and frequently feigns distress. The Yaxrowdale was brought to Germany around the Faroe Islands, along the Norwegian coast to /Skaw, thence to tile Kattegat Sound j and to Swinemunde. THE FOUNDERED SUBMARINE. London, Jan. 20. A Norwegian message describes the foundering of a liirge German submarine The crew, excepting an officer, was rescued by a trawler. . A LARGE VESSEL SUNK. Received Jan. 30, 5.5 p.m. London, Jan. 30. To-day's sinkings include the Motherall (7(154 tons). ' THREE VESSELS SUNK. London, Jan. 20. The following vessels have been snnV:; The British vessel Jevington (173& tons), the. Norwegian vessel Mytdal (2G31 tons i, and the Danish vessel Suhr (1452 tons). THE LAURENTIC'S CAPTAIN. London, Jan. 20 Captain Norton, of the Laurentic. who was saved, was commanding the Hogjc when she was torpedoed. THE SINKING OF A TRANSPORT. Berlin, Jan. 20. Official: One of our submarines sank iu ten minutes on January 25 an armed cr.emy transport full of troops, wh eh was steering eastward bound, 250 miles oast of Malta. She was accompanied by a French torpedo boat. PRIZE COURT AWARD. Reuter Service. London, Jan. 20 The Trine Court reserved judgment in ihc claim of Commander Boyle, of iil-1 for prize-money fcr the sinking, in the Sea of Marmora, of a Turkish gunboat and a transport with 6000 troops who were all drowned. The judge pointed out that if tho troops were included in the reckoning the prize-money would be increased from £2OOO to £31,000.
