THE SUMMER MEETING. ' ; There is every indication that the summer meeting of thc x Egmont Racing Club, which opens at Hwera to-morrow, and will continue on Tliursday, .will prove most successful. Though the at- . ceptnuccs for the big race wcro*hardly ns numerous as its importance demands, there is still plenty of excellent material loft in the various events. The cou»se is in good order, though, as can only be expected after the long spell of dry weather, the going will be somewhat on the hard side. A number of visiting horses, including the Greenwood pair, Burster and Gi-eeuatvect, and the Wanganui horses, Record and Grey Star, have already arrived, and the others engaged are expected to arrive to-day. All the arangements for the conduct of & successful meeting arc well in hand, the secretary <Mr. V. D. Stratton) and ths ; other officials having left no stone uai turned to ensure success.
