The Herald,, in a remarkable leader en the Federal political /situation, expi esses weariness of the finesse and intrigue which wo preventing the formation of a National Party, and declares that it is an organised attempt to picvent Mr. Hughes from going to London as the Commonwealth's representative. "It has become apparent," says the article, "that influential Liberals are lending themselves to this unworthy scheming. It is even suggested that the Tudor forces have offered to give loyal support to the Liberals if they will only consent to take over the Government and turn Mr. Hughes out." THE HEIGHT OF .ABSURDITY. The annual convention of the Australian Workers' Union carried a motion opposing representation at the Imperial Conference, stating that it would result in Australia being governed by plutocrats in England.
