FROM RAILWAY ENGNIJSS, By Telegraph.—rreas Association, Palnwrston N., last Night The Chamber of Commerce to-night passed a resolution protesting to Mr. Hi ley, General Manager of Railways, against the Department for not having' a proper system of patrol over flax aseas of the North Island, theicby jeopardising large areas of valnahla country. (' A fire broke out in S. Seifcrt's, swamp at; Tokomaru to-day. Between forty and seventy i'.ercs of flax were burned. It is surmised that the fire wa6 kindbJ by a spark from a passing locomotive
