SCENIC RESERVES BOARD.

QUARTERLY MEETING The quarterly meeting of the local Scenic Reserves Board was 'held at the Lands- Ofliee on Tuesday last, when there were present: Mr. G. 11. Billiard (Commissioner of Crown Lands), in tlie chair, and Messrs S. Percy Smith, F.R.0.5., \V. A. Collis and R. W. Davics. The chairman drew the attention of tlie Board to the fresh regulations under tlie Scenery Preservation Act recently gazetted for their guidance in administration. PUKERANGIORA PA.

It was resolved to recommend tlie granting of a four years' lease to Mr. K. Richards, of Huirangi, at £3 per annum, subject to the usual conditions. Mr. Smith suggested the fencing in of a small plateau on the reserve used by picnic parties. It was decided to ask for authority .0 incur tlie necessary expense, and Mr. Davies promised to pro: v'/it young karaka trees for planting the particular area. The chairman stated that.satisfactory arrangements had been mfrftc for clearing the gorse on the reserve also on the road frontage thereto. ONAIRO RESERVE. The chairman stated that the govse on this reserve had been -satisfactorily cleared since the Board's last meeting, at a.cost of £G 10s. RATAPIIIIPIHI RESERVE. Mr. Smith reported having laid off one fairly good graded track down to the water. On account of shortage of tunds-for formation purposes, he did not think it advisable to do more in that direction at present. Mr. Davies who has the oversight of the fencing of the reserve, reported progress made. It was resolved to communicate With one of the local residents using the road reserve through the ground to clear same of blackberry.
