RAIDS BEATEN OFF. SUCCESSFUL AVIATION WORK. Received Jan 21, 9.10 p.m. London, .lan. 24. Field-Marshal Sir Douglas H;u,g reports:—The enemy attempted a raid south-westward of Loos, tint were easily beaten off, leaving % nuinhei' of dead and wounded. We drove back a party southwards of llullueli, and raided trenchp: south-east of Vpres, also bombarded trenches south-eastward of Somiiez with good results. During airfighting, six (ierman'aerophincs were destroyed, and three were driven down damaged. One of our aeroplanes were brought down, and two are missing. OFFICIAL REPORTS. London, Jan. 24. Rii Douglas Haig reports: We. in a sncicssfnl raid, made prisoners northeast of Xcuville St. Vaast, and repulsed an enemy raid between Annentieres ;nd Ploegstcert. The enemy in a second raid reached tlie trenelies, but were eii-eted. leaving a number of dead. A French communique states: There wart a fairly lively cannonade in the Ctanipag-uo and Argeiuic. Wo carried Cut, a eonp-de-main in the Lorraine region at Riehecourt. There is artil-h-y fighting in Al»ace, in the direetioi. of Largutzcn. FREXCTI ARTILLERY ACTIVE. Received Jan. 23 10.33 p.m. London, Jan. 23. A French communique reports that (here was destructive artillery fire against the enemy in the region of MoulinsssoussTouvent, north-east of Hill 304, and an appreciably violent artillery struggle 'on the sector at Couriered Wood.
