(From Our Own Correspondent.) Wednesday, Jan. 24. Tho annua! meeting of ' the Eltbnm branch oi the Overseas Club was held at Eltham on Tuesday night, Mr. Buckeridge presiding over a good attendance of members. The report and balancesheet showed that the club membership was now 85. Total receipts for the year amounted to £SB Ms of which £377 4s 2d was remitted to Lfindon for the Soldiers' Tobacco Fund, £Sft 17s 2d for soldiers' hanvpers, £lls for Sailors' Widows and Orphans' Fund, £l9 Is for the. Red Cross Society, sundry small amounts being forwarded for causes associated with the war. The election of officers resulted:—Patrons, Messrs. C. A. Wilkinson, M/P;', and J. Ilislop; president, Mr. C. 11. White; vicc-pre.sident, Mr. G. H. Buckeridgc; secretory and . treasurer, Mr. W. T). Ross; executive committee, Mr. G. W. Bennett, G. T). I Gow, E. Parrott, O. E. Flyger, A. K. Cronin, and F. Dewhirst. Members spoke | I eirlogistieally of tho services rendered by the secretary, Mr. W. D. Ross. A strong section of the Boy Scouts had been established by the club. It was mentioned that the secretary had been tho recipient from headquarters of the society's special badge, given ior meritorious work. A list in aid of sufferers by tho recent explosion in London was opened in the room, and £8 10s collected. Altogether, the meeting was nosi enthusiastic, and promised well for tho futuro of the local branch of the club. There are many Kltham footballers and others who.will be interested to learn that "Jack" Fake has returned from the firing-line, and back to Sunny New Zealand. He had a good spell with the early contingents, but dysentery and sheli-shock have reduced him in condition. He was for many months in England, where he sustained another loss—his heart. This tvaa only temporary, as he married the lady who, in future, will look after the cx-Auckland and Hawke's Bay representative player. Football is now a tilling of the past with him, but with ordinary care "Jack" should see many more winter games.
